Inside Wine Bar George at Disney Springs

At the end of last week The Disney Blog was invited to a media preview for Wine Bar George in Disney Springs. The two-story, 200 seat wine bar resembles a vintner’s residence. You can find it in The Landing district across from Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and behind Raglan Road. Park in the Lime Garage for the most direct access.

Owner and Master Sommelier George Miliotes’ history with Walt Disney World goes back to the opening team of California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort. He managed the highly regarded restaurant from 1995 through 2002.

Wine Bar George has another tie to the opening crew of California Grill with its executive chef Ron Rupert, who worked with Miliotes then and is back to lead the kitchen at the new Disney Springs location.

We immediately felt welcome upon entering Wine Bar George. There’s a downstairs bar, and upstairs seating area and an outdoor quick service window called The Basket. Wine Bar George has a friendly knowledgeable staff trained by George himself.

Downstairs the decor features dark woods, brick walls, and bright lighting that combines for a very warm feeling. There’s plenty of room to sit with your party and enjoy some specially curated wine and fine food.

Upstairs is divided into two main rooms. The first has it’s own bar and more casual seating, including some outside seats perched out on a balcony. If you’re wondering what to order, you can always start with the wines recommend by George himself written up under ‘George’s Favorites’ list above the bar. The second room is available for private dining.

With 135 wines available by the ounce, glass, or bottle you’re assured to find something that pleases your palatte which, after all, is what it’s all about.

There’s also a surprisingly extensive menu. Don’t skip the artisan cheese and charcuterie boards, enjoy sharing the small plates, and the tasty looking entrees. It’s okay to be a little courageous here and try something you may not try at home. George and Ron won’t lead you astray.

One of the things that makes Wine Bar George unique and a must-visit, is it is the only wine bar in Florida created and owned by a Master Sommelier. We suggest securing a reservation if you want to dine upstairs, but the wine meat and cheese options from The Basket are fabulous too.

How exited are you to visit Wine Bar George? It’s now open to the public from 11AM to 2AM every day.
