Pixar Play Zone to be new getaway for kids at Contemporary Resort

Pixar Play Zone

For those wondering what kids programming Walt Disney World resorts would offer their guests after Lilo’s Play House closed at the Polynesian, we have our answer. Next month the Pixar Play Zone will open at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and reservations are open today.

The play zone includes different rooms with themes from Pixar’s Toy Story and The Incredibles movies. Kids will be able to partake in fun from structured play, a dance party, arcade games and even dinner and dessert. Of course, a few of Pixar’s favorite characters will stop by to play too.

The Living Room will be home to most of the action in the play zone. From Space Ranger Training to Woody’s Roundup, kids will get the opportunity to mean a Space Ranger and become a Jr. Space Ranger of Star Command or learn the ropes of the Wild West and join in a sing-along. Sounds like a rootin’ tootin’ good time!

Bonnie’s Play Room will feature a variety of toys to play with.

Nearby will be the Radiator Springs Racetrack which offers kids a soapbox derby like experience. Kids build their own racecars and send them down the track for a Piston Cup Derby Race.

Mr. Incredible and Mrs. Incredible will also stop by to show off some of their dance moves during the Incredible Dance Party.

Of course, Disney’s cast members will be there to host play events and check kids in and out safely.

Doors open at 5pm for the nightly experience and programming will run from 6pm to 10:30pm. Expect to pay $65 per child (plus tax). It’s open to children aged 4 to 12 who are fully toilet-trained. A parent is required to show up and check their child in and out of the experience.

This reminds me a of the Oceanears Club on the Disney Cruise Line. We’d check in our kid in the morning and he wouldn’t want to come out until bed time. The Pixar Play Zone sounds like a perfect way to escape for a few hours of adult time at a nice meal and the kids will be happy to see their parents go.
