Tasting the new summer flavors of Vivoli il Gelato at Disney Springs

It was a rainy day at Disney Springs, but I was on my way to taste the new bright and cheerful Summer flavors at Vivoli il Gelato, so my spirits were high. With a family recipe direct from the original 70-year old store in Italy, you know they’re serving the authentic stuff here. For Summer, a new batch of flavors are focused on fruit and melon sorbets and a collection of sundaes featuring both sorbets and gelato.

After parking in the Orange garage, we arrived and were greeted warmly by the staff at Vivoli il Gelato. A whole display case of yummy gelato and sorbet flavors beckoned us, as did delicious looking baked goods (fresh from the Via Napoli bakery in the Italy pavilion at EPCOT) and beverages (including what I’m told is the best coffee in Disney Springs).

Our tasting started with three sorbettos. The peach sorbetto was full or natural fruit flavor, the cantaloupe was like putting a very sweet slice of the melon in your mouth, and the watermelon perfectly encapsulated the melon we most associate with summer.

Next we watched as they made us one of the June sundae specials – the Cap and Gown. Created with the recent graduate in mind it mixes scoops of Pistachio, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Hazelnut gelato along with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and hazelnut crumble. The flavors were rich, smooth, and went very well together. I’m not sure how it ties into graduation, but my taste buds definitely graduated to another level of enjoyment while devouring it.

These flavors and more are available at Vivoli il Gelato at Disney Springs throughout June.
