Let’s be honest, it takes a lot of energy to propel a 4,000 passenger cruise ship around the Atlantic. All that energy comes from fuel the ship carries and fuel costs money, so it is in the best interest of the Disney Cruise Line to conserve energy as much as they can. Yes, it’s also being good stewards of our natural resources.
Some of the ‘bright’ ideas Disney has implemented to conserve energy on its newest ships are highlighted on this “Behind the Waves” video featuring Disney Channel star Jenna Ortega from the hit TV series “Stuck in the Middle.”
In addition to the built in functions, each Disney ship has an on-board Environmental Officer who monitors water quality, trains the crew on waste minimalization and recycling, and leads environmental safety programs.
