Disney rolls out upgrade to My Disney Experience App

As a local who has a lot of experience at the parks, my primary experience with the My Disney Experience app is to use it to make Fastpass+ selections. From time to time I’ll also make a dining reservation, access vacation photos, or check wait times for a ride across the park without having to walk over there. It’s a great application, but its designed to be a one-stop shop for any vacation traveler, not just the most experienced.

Disney World has recently launched a redesigned version of My Disney Experience for all mobile users. The app will open right up to a park map that will help you navigate your way through the parks to the nearest attraction, shop, restaurant, and more.

New to the app is a section called ‘Spotlight’ that highlights the things Disney thinks you’ll be most interested in, plus any new park experiences.

Also new is a feature for Disney Resort Guests. “My Resort Dashboard” will give you reservation details, a map to your room, and more useful information about the resort.

This update also moved the look and feel of the app to be more in line with other park apps for Disney parks around the globe. Disney promises more bells and whistles in the future too.

I hope one of these is the ability to customize your home screen, so if you’re a local, you could choose something other than the map, which I don’t often need or use.

How do you use the My Disney Experience app and MagicBand?

  1. I love using the My Disney Experience app. I hope they add your dining points, this would make it so much easier to keep track. I am a pass holder and would love to see the ability to make fast passes for my one day trips.

  2. Nope, one keeps freezing up or I have to continually sign in. Liked old version. Dare I say it, went to Universal yesterday and found their’s easier to navigate & use in the park on first day.
