Fan organized tribute to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds at Hollywood Studios this Saturday

This Saturday at 10AM a fan organized event honoring Carrie Fisher, Star Wars’ General Leia Organa, and her mom, the legendary Debbie Reynolds, will be held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Attendees are encouraged to Disneybound as their favorite versions of the iconic characters played by Fisher and Reynolds. Alternatively, come dressed in Dapper style (think 40s and 50s era clothing appropriate to the era represented by Disney’s Hollywood Studios) or in your Star Wars finest.

The plan is to meet up at 10AM at the Courtyard of the Chinese Theater then head over to Star Tours for a ride (try to book a fastpass between 12:20 and 1:20 if you can). The group photo will be at 2pm in front of the Chinese Theater. At 5pm ride the Great Movie Ride (again try to get fastpasses now) and then at 6:30 there will be a lightsaber salute / vigil in the Chinese Theater courtyard.

More details on the Facebook event listing.

Note, Disney does ask that guests over 14 do not wear costumes. As always, when you disneybound or dress dapper at the parks, respect the experience of other guests who may be there for their once in a lifetime Disney vacation. That means large group photos should not be held in an area that disrupts traffic or access to any attraction or show and should be done as quickly as possible.

Although it’s not on the event schedule, there is a performance of Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at 7:45pm, which would be a perfect way to end the night with the best Star Wars fireworks show ever made.
