Marvel is no stranger to big box office debuts and Doctor Strange, the new film from Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios debuted this weekend with an estimated $85 million domestically. This opening continues Marvel Cinematic Universe’s perfect record of #1 openings (14 out of 14 movies).
Internationally, Doctor Strange is also doing pretty well with a total of $240.4 million so far. That’s a global total of $325.4 million in just two weeks. Not too shabby.
Doctor Strange is a smart super hero film with a real trippy set of visual effects. I wouldn’t have been all that surprised if it was under the radar of movie going audiences. I’m glad it is getting the attention it deserves.
