Disney ramps up mosquito control measures

With the threat of the mosquito born Zika virus looming in Florida, Walt Disney World has been taking proactive control measures to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Guests in resort rooms will have complimentary repellent and guests in the parks and other public areas (like Disney Springs) can visit stations where they can find spray or lotion repellent to apply.

This weekend we were at the Magic Kingdom and there were stations located in every land with lotion repellent.

We even noticed a pop-up screen on My Disney Experience app informing us to be on the look out for available stations.

As the flyer made available at the station says, the best way to prevent any disease spread by mosquitoes is to avoid being bitten. Long sleeves and pant legs are mighty uncomfortable in the Central Florida humidity, so having some repellent available is great.

Of course, Disney already has a comprehensive mosquito and insect control program at Walt Disney World. They’re currently in progress of making sure no bodies of water exist where mosquitoes might breed.
