Walt Disney Studios using Olympics to promote two upcoming movies

At least two upcoming movies from Walt Disney Studios will release new trailers during the Olympics. Both “Moana” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will feature new previews. “Pete’s Dragon” is now just a week away, so I wouldn’t expect a new trailer for it. Haven’t heard about “Dr Strange” from Marvel either.

Tonight viewers of Olympic coverage will be able to see a new trailer for Disney’s “Moana.” Moana tells the story of a Polynesian princess who sets out on an adventure to restore a lost connection between her people and the sea. It also stars Dwayne “the rock” Johnson as the Demigod Maui.

The teaser trailer previously released is here:

One of the fun facts of how animation is done is that you often don’t meet your fellow co-stars until you start to do publicity for the film. Here’s the moment when the voice of Moana, newcomer Auli’l Cravalho, met The Rock for the first time

“Moana” enters theaters this Thanksgiving.

On Thursday, during the Olympic games coverage, Disney will release a new trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The heist war movie takes place in the moments leading up to the events of “Star Wars: A New Hope.” It’s the first movie to take place outside the Star Wars saga of trilogies.

Meanwhile here’s the previous trailer released for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

The next five films from Disney are:

Pete’s Dragon – 8/12/16
Doctor Strange – 11/4/16
Moana – 11/23/16
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One – 12/16/16
Beauty and the Beast – 3/17/17

Which are you most looking forward to?
