How the Topiary are made at EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival

I have incredible respect for the magic Disney’s team of horticulturalists are able to make at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, even as it expands to 90 days this spring. When have you ever had a bloom last that long?

(Trade secret: Disney replants overnight when an exhibit looks a little ragged.)

Topiary, however, are a different beast. They’re a combination of wire, plants, pruning, and a little secret sauce that’s been developed over the last 23 years of the festival.

In this great behind-the-scenes video we see how the new Topiary for Huey, Louis, and Dewey were created for the front entrance of EPCOT. Disney’s horticulture experts worked for almost six months to mold the greens and flowers into the three topiary:
