Disney, LucasFilm and Marvel Score 2016 MTV Movie Award Nominations

MTV just revealed the nominees for the “2016 MTV Movie Awards,” with Walt Disney Studios and its affiliated studios garnering 19 total nominations.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens garnered eleven nominations,  the most for a single franchise. Other Disney-related films garnering nominations were Avengers: Age of Ultron with 6 nomination, and Ant-Man and Inside Out with one nomination each.

The nominees were announced via MTV’s new Snapchat Discover channel – a first for an event of this kind. In another first for the show, MTV has partnered with Google for voting on the coveted “Movie of the Year” category, allowing fans to vote by typing keywords, “MTV Vote,” into the Google search bar.  In other categories, fans vote starting today, across mobile, tablet and desktop devices at MovieAwards.MTV.com, until Sunday, March 20 at 11:59pm ET.
