10th Anniversary Year of Giving – Week 2 Contest

10th

Last week we kicked off our Year of Giving to celebrate The Disney Blog’s 10th anniversary. I’m happy to announce that Rebecca Clark Guerrero was the winner of the first drawing for a MyMagic+ watch and bag.

For the second week, we’re giving away a copy of my recently published book “Dispatch From Disneyland.” It’s chock full of stories, essays, & interesting facts from the Happiest Place on Earth – Disneyland.

Thank you so much for entering. I look forward to taking The Disney Blog to new places in its 10th year.

About Dispatch from Disneyland:

50wishes-dl-offer

Watching colossal fireworks boom above Sleeping Beauty Castle, sailing down the mighty Mississippi River aboard a powerful sternwheeler, or strolling along Main Street U.S.A. while sweet nostalgia licks at your periphery, these are a few of the magical moments you might create on your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

Dispatch From Disneyland is a collection of stories, essays, and interesting facts written for those who love Walt Disney’s original theme park, but don’t have the good fortune of visiting the park as often as they wish.

Inspired by the park that Walt built, Dispatch from Disneyland takes readers on a “you are there” emotional journey to Disneyland via the power of story. Each “dispatch” is meant to bring the reader to a place that reminds them of the magic they feel when at the park themselves.

Also included are a collection of essays and interesting facts that help make Disneyland the number one destination for Disney fans around the globe.

Your purchase of “Dispatch from Disneyland” via our website or Amazon, helps support The Disney Blog. Thank you.

  1. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved Pirates of the Caribbean. Like many a little boy, I had a fascination with pirates, and the theming and atmosphere in that ride is second to none (though many come close)

  2. My favorite attraction…why do you guys ask such tough questions?!?! I guess it would be Splash Mountain. You get the most bang for your buck, er, wait time and it’s just a classic!

  3. I love the mono rail. It gives me such joy when I see it and ride on it. When I was a kid and saw it in commercials I thought I would never get to ride on it.

  4. Splash mountain is a gem, hands down. I don’t go for the crazier roller coasters, but I love a log ride, and Splash mountain is thrilling, beautifully themed, and gets you wet (which is a bonus on hot summer days)! No matter how hard I try to take a decent photograph on the ride I always end up looking like i’m about to cry!
Unfortunately it isn’t apart of my local park at Paris, but I got to ride it again at Tokyo this year and I absolutely loved every moment.

  5. Ohhh, too many to count, but probably Big Thunder is my favorite. It’s just a great ride.

  6. Congratulations on 10 years of sharing the magic John! My favorite theme park attraction is Space Mountain. It was the first roller coaster that I ever road with my Mom (my Dad was chicken) and it has been the first roller coaster that my kids road. It’s all about MAKING MEMORIES!

  7. Since I blog about travel with kids, I’ll start by sharing my 5 year old daughter’s favorite Disneyland attraction. Hands down, Peter Pan at this age. So magical and pure. At 2, Winnie the Pooh led the pack for her. Husband has loved Pirates of the Caribbean since he was a boy. I don’t have a clear favorite, but I’ve been an Epcot geek since I was a child and the Maelstrom in Norway holds a special place in childhood memories for me for some reason. Obscure, I know!

  8. Peter Pan’s flight is my all time favorite ride. I remember riding this way back when there was only one park to visit. Those December family vacations with a stop at MK on our way to Key Largo for Christmas were the best. So many great memories!!!

  9. I always look forward to The Twilight Tower of Terror. It is just so much fun! I love that there are different drop sequences…so you never know what to expect. I also love the staging and the theme while waiting in line…just something so real about it. It really makes you feel like you are a part of it.

  10. Space Mountain because my father wouldn’t let me go on when I was seven so I had to wait early for 11 years before I got the chance again. Worth it.

  11. My favorite attraction is Main Street USA, just being there, the atmosphere, the people, Partners. I could sit there on a bench for hours and just enjoy the atmosphere and people.

  12. My favorite will always be Space Mountain, even when the queue was boring I loved the entire thing. Something about zipping through space in the dark, never knowing where you’ll be turning next always gets my pumped and I enjoy the ride every single time I ride it. It’s a classic and will always be in my heart

  13. My favorite attraction is, and always will be, the Haunted Mansion. I remember, as a child, inquiring to one of the Haunted Mansion “hosts” how I could be the “one more” ghost to make a thousand. I still madly envy the person who won the California charity auction that officially made him the 1000th ghost for the Disneyland Haunted Mansion.

  14. Man! Hard question! I would have to say my favorite attraction is the new Toy Story game at Hollywood Studios. Its fun for the whole family and I love to let my competitive side come out. It was a great upgrade from Space Ranger Spin (which used to be the family favorite). Thanks for the blog posts! We love them :)
