Walt Disney World Resort – What’s New Announcements

A few big announcement at the presentation formerly known as What’s New, What’s Next, now called “Around Our World.” Among the recap of recent changes at the resort including DCL, DVC, and Adventures by Disney, a sprinkling of new news was released.

First news from “Around Our World” Complete renovation at Poly, new guest rooms, reimagined feature pool, welcome house, and adding Trader Sam’s. Expected to open next year. Also announcing resort returning to original name, Disneys Polynesian Village Resort.

Karl Holz did come through a little later and announce the Disney’s Polynesian Villas. Includes bungalows on the Seven Seas Lagoon. Completion estimated in 2015.

Festival of The Lion King will finish move to Harambe theatre, with performances resuming in June. A new special event on Saturdays June 7 – August 9th, new show called “Harambe Nights” with roster of tony and award winning narrators in the new theater and a street party afterwards.

Rivers of Light was announced for Discovery river area and a night time party is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the next year some time.

Avatar World of Pandora was announced for some time in 2017.

Early next year, The Landing is first area of Disney Springs to open. The name will officially change from Downtown Disney then.
