Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Wrapping Up The Final Details of New Fantasyland

We’re getting down to the nitty-gritty on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. This week contractors were kept very busy working on the long list of little details that needed finishing around the attraction. From new welding on the track, to a wider emergency staircase, to a whole bunch more trees, Snow White’s Mountain has really changed character in just the last few weeks.

Meanwhile, testing has begun with actual people riding the roller coaster. The May 2nd grand opening will bring the newest family-style coaster and the final element of New Fantasyland. On board the attraction, guests will be treated to an exciting, musical ride into the mine “where a million diamonds shine” as the lovable world of Sleepy, Doc, Grumpy, Bashful, Sneezy, Happy and Dopey comes to life.

One feature will be first-of-its-kind ride vehicles mounted in cradle-like pivots that allow the vehicles to swing back and forth during the ride. Adding to the fun, the journey will be accompanied by beloved music from the Disney film classic. On their adventure, riders pass by animated figures of Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs and playful forest critters.

  1. May 2nd is confirmed? I’ll be in Orlando from May 2nd-8th and waiting for this ride to buy my Magic Kindom ticket!!!!

      1. Hi John

Where did you hear that May 2nd is the official opening date? Anything else I have read says that is the official dedication day for Media only.

        1. That’s the event. But once the ribbon cutting is done, they usually make an effort to have it open to public later that day, but definitely the next. Barring technical challenges, of course

    1. Will FastPass Plus be available for this after it opens? My kids are 4 and 7 and won’t do well with hour long waits, so I’m hoping to make a fastpass plus time for this. We will be in WDW 5/4-5/11/14.

      1. It will have a Fastpass entrance, but no official word has been announced as to when FP+ will be available to reserve or use. Sometimes they let it run for a few weeks with just standby.

        1. ok, thx, I will just keep checking on my Disney experience to see if it opens before we leave. From your experience with the Disney parks, if we are there at the main gates before opening time and we head straight to this ride once we are in, how long do you think the waits will be?
