US Release Schedule for Walt Disney Studios Films on DVD in 2014

Walt Disney Studios has released their schedule for films to be released on DVD in 2014, and it contains a mixture of classic favorites and new projects.

Here are the dates to mark in your calendar:

junglebook-mowglibaloo

February 11 – The Jungle Book: Diamond Edition

For the first time ever, this classic movie will be available on Blu-ray in high definition. The release will also feature new behind-the-scenes bonus features. It will be available in a Blu-ray combo pack, regular DVD, and digital formats. Save up to 30% by pre-ordering today.

March 18 – Frozen

Of course, Disney’s newest animated hit will hit the shelves in Spring 2014. If you pre-order the blu-ray DVD combo box, you can save 49% off the retail price. Can’t beat that deal.

winniepooh-springtimeroo

March 11 – Winnie the Pooh: Springtime With Roo

Just in time for Spring and Easter, this film is being released on digital high definition and Blu-ray for the first time. There is also a never-before-seen bonus treat on this release.

junglebook2-baloomowgli

March 18 – The Jungle Book II

To go with last month’s release of the original, this sequel has been digitally mastered and is on Blu-ray format for the first time. It will also be released in regular DVD and digital formats.

deviousmaids-cast

March 18 – Devious Maids: The Complete First Season

From Executive Producer Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives, comes Devious Maids. Meet five women bonded together by their jobs, their dreams and the dirt they sweep under the rug. The cast features Ana Ortiz, Roselyn Sanchez, and Susan Lucci. This box set will be in regular DVD format.

piratefairy

April 1 – The Pirate Fairy

From the world of Peter Pan comes “The Pirate Fairy,” centered on Zarina, a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina gets into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock. Tinker Bell and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates. Tom Hiddleston, Christina Hendricks, and Mae Whitman contribute voices to this animated adventure.

sleepingbeauty

October – Sleeping Beauty: The Diamond Edition

No exact date was included with this announcement, but this October, this classic film has been fully restored with new picture and sound on Blu-ray. Heralded by audiences and critics alike, Sleeping Beauty was one of the final fairy tales to be that Walt Disney himself worked on, and this release will also feature new bonus features that will enhance the enjoyment of owning this.

On this list, do you see any must-haves? For me, definitely The Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty Diamond Editions.

  1. I’m very disappointed to see Sleeping Beauty on the list. I already have it on Blu-Ray although I guess it isn’t a Diamond Edition. Still, where’s Aladdin? I’d heard a rumor that was the October release this year, and I was excited.

Knowing me, I’ll still buy it because I’ll want some of the bonus features, but I wish they’d release something I don’t already have first.

Definitely excited about Jungle Book. Need to get down to The Disney Store and pre-order – I’d forgotten it was coming out just next month.

  2. I agree with Geoff. I already have Sleeping Beauty on Blu-Ray and am eagerly anticipating Aladdin. I am looking forward to The Jungle Book and I’ve already pre-ordered Frozen.
The fact that Tom Hiddleston is in the new Faries movie is almost enough for me to check it out. Speaking of Tom, why isn’t Thor: The Dark World on this list (another movie I’ve already pre-ordered)?

    1. I didn’t include it because this is just a list of Walt Disney Studios releases. Thor: TDW is a Marvel release. I’m excited for that one, too. =)

  3. Are they not releasing a 3D version of Frozen on blu ray? I dont see it on amazon anywhere, or is it just not available for pre order yet?

    1. Sadly Frozen will not have a blu ray 3D release here in the USA, however it will have a 3D release over seas which will play in the USA players.
So if we from the USA want to see a 3D version of this film we will need to import it from there.

  4. Where the heck is ‘Darkwing Duck’ – volume 3? Where the heck is ‘Ducktales’ – volume 4? Where the heck is the official release for ‘Ducktales – The Movie – Treasure Of The Lost Lamp’??????????????

Sadly the Disney Company has abandoned its faithful customers when it comes to the Disney Afternoon series collection. The good news for those who are TaleSpin fans the 3rd and final volume was released through the Disney Movie Club about a year or two ago. You can find copies of it on amazon or ebay but I would recommend that you just join the club. Other titles that have made their way ( strictly through the DMC ) are Goof Troop , Kim Possible and The Weekenders . If Disney were committed to churning these awesome titles out only as MEMBER EXCLUSIVES than I think they would have a hefty profit on their hands and many new members joining just to get the titles they have so long and are way past due on a waiting list that most hope has been abandoned that even through word of mouth people would flock to them just for the remaining episodes of DuckTales, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, Gummie Bears, Goof Troop, and so many other wonderful shows. But THIS IS DISNEY WERE TALKING ABOUT nothing about their marketing makes much sense.

  5. I waiting for Tarzan, Hercules, The Goofy Movies, The Black Cauldron, Aladdin, Duck Tails the movie, also the classic non animated movies like Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday ect. Like most have said I have Sleeping Beauty why not do some thing new, something I haven’t seen since childhood. But guess they don’t want our money for these movies that seem people have forgotten. I have not!!! So I’m still waiting.
