ABC conquers Country Music thanks to the CMA

Last night ABC aired their annual “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Rock” special to the biggest demo ratings they have had in 7 years, thus winning the night. This was a big win for ABC, as they special aired last year against “The Voice”, so moving it to August worked in their favor. The special was a 3 hour compilation of the biggest performances from the CMA Music Festival in Nashville this past June.

As a humongous country music fan, I watched every second. It made me love that this brought together my 2 favorite things: Disney (in the form of ABC) and Country Music. On Wednesday, November 6th at 8pm EST, the piece de resistance of the Disney/Country combo shows itself in the form of the CMA Awards, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

These are the Oscars of the Country Music world. Every Country star yearns to become Entertainer of the Year. This show not only gives out awards, but doles out some INCREDIBLE performances and the Carrie/Brad pairing make the evening incredibly funny and exciting.

The ACMs, CMT Music Awards and the ACAs are all good, but nothing competes with ABC’s Country powerhouses created by the Country Music Association. The fantastic “Nashville” could also be added to list to show how much of a hold ABC has on the Country Music market. With all of this presence, I would love to see “Country Music Weekends” at Hollywood Studios, in the same vein of “Night of Joy” or the old “Super Soap Weekend”.

Do you love Country Music? Did you watch the CMA Music Festival special? Would you enjoy Country Music in the parks? Let me know in the comments below! I will leave below the most incredible performance from last night’s special, Carrie Underwood singing “Paradise City”. JUST WOW! Until next time…Have a Magical Day!

I would love to see more country music in the parks. A country music weekend would be a must-go for me, and it’s not that hard to see. The “Cars” soundtracks have a few country artists on them (I love Brad Paisley’s songs in “Cars 2″), so the mouse clearly has ties with some big-name country artists. Bringing them to the parks would be a perfect “Collision Of Worlds.”

  2. Brad Phillips says:

Maybe if Disney ever does acquire Scripps, they can use GAC to bolster their country music ambitions.
