Iron Man 3 Continues Box Office Run

Marvel released a new featurette from Iron Man 3 today. Just a kindly hint that the movie needs its fans, especially those who haven’t seen the film, to visit theaters this week and help it stay number one at the box office.

Iron Man 3 just passed $200 million domestically, which brings it’s worldwide total to $745 million. That’s about half-way to the world wide gross of The Avengers. Not too shabby.

Speaking of The Avengers, Nikki Finke is reporting that the cast wants to return, even Robert Downey Jr, but that Marvel is playing stingy with the salaries. Whether or not the regular cast is back for the second Avengers, depends a lot on how much leverage Downey jr has toward securing not just a large salary for him, but also for returning cast members.

Would you like to see The Avengers sequel return most, if not all, of the original cast? Who do you think could be cut?

  1. Not bringing back the original cast because they are cutting corners? Are they mad? They have built a phenomenal franchise and they are going to destroy it….?

    Sigh

  2. the mandatory characters to have in Avengers 2:
    -Tony Stark/Iron Man
    -Steve Rogers/Captain America
    -Thor
    -Nick Fury

    Preferred if kept:
    -Bruce Banner/Hulk
    -Natasha Romanov/Black Widow
    -Clint Barton/Hawkeye
    -Maria Hill
-Phil Caulson (spoiler alert, he is lead in the SHIELD tv show for ABC)

I predict will be added based on rumors and the Phase 2/3 slates:
-Star Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy team
    -Hank Pym/Ant-Man
    -Janet van Dyne/The Wasp
    -Scarlett Witch
    -Quicksilver

Would love to see but doubtful:
    -Iron Patriot
    -Blade
    -Ghost Rider
    -The Falcon
    -The Winter Soldier

Also I’d emphasize the importance of not replacing any actors at this point unless they were a minor role the last time we saw them (like Maria Hill). Especially don’t replace Robert Downey Jr (unless he says he is done), Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L Jackson…. basically, if their name has been on the poster, then don’t replace them.
