2013 Walt Disney Movie Lineup Looking Strong

The beginning of 2012 was not kind to Disney Studios. Feeling the burn of the failed John Carter and the not so successful, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, it wasn’t looking good for Disney Studios. Although they managed to turn it around by the end of the year with award winning animations like Brave, Frankenweenie (mostly overseas), and Wreck-It Ralph and who can forget box office gold that was The Avengers.

As we embark upon a new year there is much to look forward to. Disney has plenty in store for us in 2013; 4 new movies from Disney Studios like the highly anticipated Oz The Great And Powerful, The Lone Ranger, and Frozen, as well as 2 new sequels to the popular animation hits that were Cars and Monsters Inc by Pixar. Now if you are waiting for some sure blockbusters we are getting some of those this year as well, Marvel Studios we will the much awaited sequels to Iron Man and Thor.

From the look of the that line up it appears as though Disney will have profitable year and I predict many will be spending a lot of time in the theater.

Has Disney had some flops? Yes. Does that mean that they should stop investing and venturing in to big budget non-animated projects? In my opinion most definitely not. Not every project will be a success and that is true across the board for every studio. Have I gone out expecting to be amazed by a film in part because Disney is attached to it? Perhaps, and at times I have come out a tad disappointed. But that will not deter me from going back. While movies like The Odd Life Of Timothy Green wasn’t as profitable as expected, I can tell you I loved it in fact I watched it twice at the theater.

With the release of movies like Oz The Great and Powerful and The Lone Ranger I’m looking forward to see the studios take on these classics stories. We also have to keep in mind that these stories have been done before and to keep them fresh as they are redone we often get a new perspective and so they not be exactly what we remember. I think that’s the best part, seeing a story come to life from a different point of view and getting a new piece to the puzzle.

So as you can see there is plenty coming our way. The return of some old favorites, animated and non-animated films a little something for just about anyone. The great thing is that you as the viewer get to choose what you will and won’t go out to watch.

What are you looking forward to seeing in 2013?

About Paula Garcia

I am a Latina wife, mother of a 5 year old precious little girl, and a long time Disney enthusiast. We are a Disney Family and watch our Disney movie collection often. It is a great joy to see my daughter lost in the magic and wonder of those stories. Nothing brings a smile to my heart more than watching her sing a long with the characters, or when she talks to her cousins and tells them, "You have to believe in the magic, you just HAVE to believe!" In the last few years our family has done quite a few Disney related activities. Whether visiting the park for the first time as a family in Orlando or enjoying a cruise on the Disney Fantasy we never get tired and we are always impressed. I enjoy staying up to date with anything Disney related from the Disney Parks to movies, shows and products. My current obsession is Vinylmations. When not writing here, I talk about Disney, motherhood, and more on my blog.

Yes, cant wait for Saving Mr Banks, the story sounds very interesting and if successful could spur Disney into producing a Walt bio film (which is something I’d like to see)

I’d also like to know why disney shelved 3D convert of the little mermaid and why they havn’t converted wall-e yet….
