Disney has released two tantalizing pictures from Wreck-It Ralph and one that seems a little strange, until you realize it’s a big plot point in the film. So be warned, spoilers are below. Also, word is the first trailer for the film will hit the nets sometime tomorrow.
The odd picture at first glance appears to be just a random overloaded power strip on the floor. But as it turns out it’s really the Game Central Station, and the power strip serves as the central hub connecting every game in the arcade. Characters meet up in Game Central Station when they’re not ‘on-duty’ in their own games.
The second still is of Sergeant Calhoun, voiced by the talented & funny Jane Lynch) in the video game world of Hero’s Duty. Reviews from those who have seen early versions of the film say Lynch is terrific in the role.
The third frame has Ralph on the left and Vanellope Von Schweetz hanging from a tree in the video game world of Sugar Rush.
I’m still in the thralls of details about Pixar’s Brave. But I’m also liking what I’ve heard so far about Wreck-It Ralph. Not only will it thrill gamers, but it is an example of the non-traditional sort of story that Pixar specializes in.

It’s hard to be excited for a movie I barely know about. I like the stills I see so far. I’m being cautious with this one but I’m hoping for a trailer with Brave to finally get a first impression.
By the way, ‘the’ is spelt wrong above the third still frame. Just letting you know ;)
I cannot shake the feeling that a fair share of n00bs will mistake this picture for a Pixar production once word of it reaches mainstream circulation. Disney’s publicity team best be aware of this potential for confusion and take proper steps to avoid it or else risk upsetting moviegoers who could potentially feel misled if they believe the picture to be misrepresented to them in such a fashion.
My thoughts exactly. There’s not much to set Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios apart now that both are making films exactly the same way. It’s kind of redundant how Disney owns Pixar AND produces its own CGI films (that’s Pixar’s thing). If audiences don’t start showing more interest in traditional animation (even the kind we see in other places, like in commercials for Kellogg’s Froot Loops), it’ll be 2004 all over again at WDAS if you know what I mean.
