They said it wouldn’t happen. That weddings at the Fairy Tale Wedding Pavilion would not be affected by the neighboring construction for the, as yet, unofficial DVC tower being added to to the Grand Floridian, Disney’s most expensive hotel. Prospective wedding parties were told that construction would be handled so as not to interfere with actual wedding ceremonies, by scheduling only quiet construction during that time of day. When I heard this a little voice in the back of my head said, “sounds like they’re promising something they won’t be able to deliver.”
Indeed, the other glass slipper dropped this week when couples with weddings booked at Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding Pavilion during the final two weeks of September have been told their weddings will have to be moved or rescheduled due to unavoidable construction noise (and likely some dredge boats in the water outside the pavilion’s window). That’s less than 30 days notice for some parties. Barring bankruptcy, force majeure, or unpredictable unsafe conditions at the pavilion, that’s totally unacceptable.

If you have ever purchased a Disney Princess game, you already know they are typically made for very young audiences. This fall, the iconic ladies will be featured again in a video game called Disney Princesses: Enchanting Storybooks.
Created by THQ, the game will be available November 1 on the Wii (with the uDraw GameTablet) and Nintendo DS, and will essentially be exactly what the name suggests. Based off of interactive stylus-based activities, the game will include number-painting pages, painting games, and coloring pages that will narrate their respective stories aloud. Players will also meet a new fairy named Opal, who will play alongside classic characters, like Ariel, Belle, and Rapunzel. According to Martin Good, Executive Vice President of PlayTHQ, the company’s division for kids games,
“The Disney Princess characters are favorites of little girls everywhere, and our goal has been to make a game for them that takes advantage of the special capabilities of the uDraw GameTablet…Whether they venture under the sea or into the bayou, we’re excited that the uDraw will allow generations of fans to experience these classic Disney princesses.”
To me, it sounds like this is basically a glorified coloring book, which could be pretty fun for a young girl, especially when accompanied by the Disney Princesses. However, as a college student on a pretty tight budget, I could foresee having trouble justifying the price (Wii-$29.99, Nintendo- $19.99), especially because I have personally found the princess games to be fairly dull. Having said that, the game is worth considering for any young girl aspiring to be a Disney princess. With the two-hour season premiere set for Monday, Sept 19 at 8pm ET on ABC, we’re finally getting our first look at the lineup of stars who will take to the dance floor. While I haven’t been the show’s biggest fan, I do see at least one name on the list I’m interested in following. Which is yours?

“Dancing with the Stars” returns with the promise of new surprises, plus all the elements viewers have come to know and love. “Macy’s Stars of Dance,” which features some of the best choreographers and performers from different styles of dance and offers viewers performances that represent the peak of achievement in their genres, will return on “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show.” One of the “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performances will be the popular “Design-a-Dance,” where fans have the chance to select their favorite professional dancers, dance styles, songs and costumes at www.abc.com.
