Continuing the series on celebrating the 40th anniversary of Walt Disney World, here’s a 10 minute clip that looks at the first ever holiday season for the Magic Kingdom back in December 1971. There’s a little Busch Gardens there in the middle (No live animals at WDW until 1998 at DAK), but there is a lot of great stuff to see. Particularly for someone like me who only visited WDW for the first time in 1997.
Check out how bare the Rivers of America area was at the time. The Christmas parade sure has progressed since then too. I have to say, I would like to see Honey Pot Pooh return to the park for a bit, alas that costume was a real hazard for the cast member who wore it. But it’s damn cute.
Is there anything from Walt Disney World’s history that you’d like to see return today?
