A memo highlighting a new safety policy for employees of the Walt Disney Company was leaked to Deadline Hollywood this week. In it, Disney lays out restrictions on use of cell phones or other mobile devices while driving an official Disney vehicle at any time or a personal vehicle on company time. Employees will be subject to discipline up to termination if they’re caught sending an email or text on their mobile device while driving during company hours or on a company vehicle.
30 states have similar restrictions on the books, but Disney is one of the few companies to include this rule. What do you think? Is it a good move for Disney or just them covering their asses should some tragedy happen?

Sounds good to me… In ten years we’ll look back on texting and driving as being almost as idiotic and dangerous as drinking and driving.
I think this is an awesome idea, there are too many tourists driving around WDW property being clueless, it will be great if the bus drivers are paying attention!
It’s a good move because distracted driving is “bad show”. A CM who is paying more attention to their cell phone than to their driving, while on company time, is paying more attention to their cell phone than to their cast role. And the presentation of “bad show” is part of Guest Relations that the company still takes pretty seriously.
