Toy Story 3 Becomes Highest Grossing Pixar film ever.

Another milestone day for the folks up in Emeryville. Toy Story 3 has now earned over $895 million worldwide, surpassing Finding Nemo’s $867.8 million worldwide gross. This makes it Pixar’s all-time highest grossing film. Earnings are split at $396,387,342 for domestic and foreign at $498,700,000. These totals were aided by the 3-D aspect, which generally commands higher box office prices. But still a great accomplishment.

A lot of the Disney cynics have tried to say that priced-for-inflation or price-without-3D-increase puts the movie lower in rankings in comparison to other top films or other Pixar films. I’ve also hear people complaining that the film isn’t yet as profitable as it might seem. It’s all a lot of hogwash. The fact of the matter is that Disney-Pixar have the most critically acclaimed film of the summer (and year), highest grossing film of the year, their highest grossing film ever, and possibly another Oscar nominee. That’s a lot of things to be proud of. And ultimately in this cinematic economy, it’s a great accomplishment. It made significantly more than the latest (and supposedly best) film of the top cultural phenomenon right now (Twilight). And almost all movies are struggling to make any hay.

    Congrats to Pixar!!
