Disney Magic takes part time job as rescue boat to make ends meet

No, not really.

But the great crew of the Disney Cruise Liner ‘The Magic’ did rescue 18 Algerians who had been stranded in the Mediterranean on their boat for 4-5 days. In a nod to the speed of today’s internet connected world, this story was originally reported on the Disboards forums by a passenger of the ship just a few hours after the rescue was made.

The crew began a search for the boat after another ship reported hearing screams for help. The rescued group received emergency care, food, and rooms on the ship until it was docked in Barcelona, where presumably, they were handed off to authorities.

Major kudos to the crew of the Disney Magic.

  4. I was on the cruise when this happened and was very impressed Disney’s empathy as well as how well the crew handled the situation. Glad those 18 people are safe.
