Disney Guidebook collects 4 awards in one month

It’s been a busy month for Julie Neal! Her Disney World guidebook, “The Complete Walt Disney World 2010“, was honored by four book award programs who announced their winners last month at the annual BookExpo convention in New York City. This brings the total national and international book awards won by the guidebook to 13.

  • The guidebook has been named the best travel book in the National Indie Excellence Awards. Winners were chosen based on “overall excellence of presentation.”
  • The book won the gold medal for best family travel book in the Living Now Book Awards, presented each year to honor “books for better living, that enhance the quality of our lives.”
  • The book has also been named the silver medalist as the ForeWord Reviews Travel Guide of the Year. This unique awards program has readers, librarians and booksellers select the winning titles. Decisions are based on editorial excellence, professional production, originality of the narrative, author credentials relative to the book and the value the book adds to its genre.
  • The title won the silver award for best travel book in the IBPA Ben Franklin Awards. This award is regarded as one of the highest national honors in independent book publishing. Administered by IBPA, Independent Book Publishers Association, the judges come from the library, bookstore, reviewer, designer, publicity and editorial industry segments.

That’s quite an accomplishment! One thing is certainly clear, if you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World you owe it to yourself and your family to purchase a copy of “The Complete Walt Disney World 2010“. I recommend picking up your copy at the LaughingPlace.com Disney store.

  1. Eric Mat says:

    Interesting article!

How does this guidebook compares to the Unofficial Guide to WDW? Anybody read both?

  2. John Frost says:

They are both great. The difference is the amount of data provided. The Unofficial Guide has about 3 times as much info. That’s great if you’re a champion planner but might be a bit overkill for simple family vacation.

  3. Sam Gennawey says:

The Unofficial Guide also has a new Color Companion book loaded with photos, information, and is quite funny at times. It uses the rankings and data that has been gathered for the Unofficial Guide. It isn’t as comprehensive as it was meant to be portable and used while touring the parks. The Complete Guide is also an excellent book. Congratulations to the authors.
