Performance Artist will do Carousel of Progress Marathon

Orlando area Performance Artist Brian Feldman, who last leap year spent February 29th leaping on a ladder, will spend this Friday doing an 11 hour marathon of the Magic Kingdom’s Carousel of Progress.

Feldman, 29, says he’ll spend Friday entering and re-entering the attraction, which features four scenes following Animatronic families through various decades. His favorite part was always the finale.

“I’ve always been partial to the future, so it’s always been Act 4 – whatever the update was,” he says.

“I really enjoy it all. It’s a genuine emotion I have toward the attraction.”

This Friday marks the 35th Anniversary of the attraction opening at Walt Disney World, however, it had its debut at the 1964 World’s Fair.

I know people who have done similar things when attractions opened or closed. I wish him luck and the ability to survive hours of boredom.

When I first read the title, I thought someone was going to ACT OUT the show – recreating it.

I must be way too cynical…

You mean the CoP is actually going to be OPEN for 11 hours straight?
    :0)

It’s always so hit or miss when we are at the World…and I LOVE CoP.

    There’s a great big, beautiful tomorrow…

Now is the time, now is the best time…

    I’ll stop now!

Boredom? I love the CoP! I’ve never ridden it for 11 hours straight (and I’m not sure that qualifies as “performance art”) but I’ve gone on it multiple times in one day. I love that attraction.

  4. Kungaloosh1117 says:

Personally, I love the CoP and would find it fun to ride it over and over for hours. Even if the song would become stuck in my head for a month…

Is that art, though? Not in my humble opinion. And why 11 hours? It’s the 35th anniversary! Shouldn’t he sit through 35 hours? Obviously, he doesn’t love it as much as I do. :)

  5. MarkTwain says:

The song will be stuck in that man’s head for the rest of his life.

  6. Shelly Smith says:

Heck, I’d ride it 35 hours (with the occasional bathroom break, for the sake of the carpet) to celebrate the anniversary!
