20,000 Leagues Remake Sinks

New Walt Disney Studios President Rich Ross is already making big waves by canceling production of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea remake. Obviously, this either upsets or excites you depending on your feelings about the film. I definitely thing it had the potential to become a 3 or 4 film franchise like Pirates, but I am also happy that the original will remain as Disney’s classic take on the story.

What Disney attraction would you like to see get the Pirates Of the Caribbean movie treatment next? I still think they could do a better job with Haunted Mansion (perhaps a series of Halloween time PG13 scare flicks) and I’m dying to see a film based on Space Mountain.

  1. I personally would love to see a Tiki Room movie. That would be awesome if done in a totally Polynesian Pop – Trader Vic – Martin Denny cool kinda way.

  2. What about the Jungle Cruise movie that was announced a while ago? I’m not sure how good it would be, but I love the attraction.

    1. I’ve always said Jungle Cruise has the best potential of being a great film. They have to do a campy period movie, in the Pirates style, for it to work though…it can’t be a Haunted Mansion thing where Eddie Murphy and his family go on a wacky cruise through the jungle.

  3. OH MY GOSH! I totally agree about the Haunted Mansion film. It is my favorite ride and the feeling I get is “its tim burten spooky” its got that scary quality but its more “artistic” scary. THats the kind of mindset they should have put into the film- weird, dark, spooky, but DISNEY. But im not cancelling out the murphey film- I enjoy watching him in family films.
