Dancing with the Stars: The Dreaded Double Elimination

The time has come for the dreaded double elimination. Shall we see how it all plays out?

Well, look what they brought back – the encore! Obviously, they read our complaints about it being gone last week. It was all us. (And I’m not delusional at all, why do you ask?) No surprise the encore went to Gilles and Cheryl and their wonderful Argentine Tango.

What did surprise me was that Len started by saying the judges thought the show last night was brilliant. They didn’t sound like it when they were talking to some of the contestants.

Tom is doing most of the hosting duties solo to allow Samantha’s voice to rest as much as possible. She’s not out front, but she still did the back stage stuff. And he finally told us there would be no dance off, the couples in the bottom two spots are the ones going home. However, they did have a bottom three.

The Bottom Three:
Holly Madison & Dmitry Chaplin
Steve-O & Lacey Schwimmer
Steve Wozniak & Karina Smirnoff

It’s amazing. The bottom three were the bottom three with the judges. It’s been a while since that happened. Okay, so we’ve never had a bottom three, but you know what I mean.

And the two couples going home are Steve & Karina and Holly & Dmitry.

As you know, I’ve been saying they would be leaving for a while now, but I am slightly surprised to see I was right this week. Holly really did seem to try and Steve was fun to watch, so I will miss them for those reasons. But they aren’t growing as dancers as much as the others, so for that reason it makes sense.

I’ll be back next Monday with my take on the old standbys, the Viennese Waltz and the Paso Doble. But in the mean time, stop by and visit me at my blog.

  1. No surprises last night, although I am unhappy to see Steve Woz go. I am hoping Gilles & Cheryl dance the Paso Doble next week, can you imagine the heat????
