So, I’m still curious to see how the dance off will be changing things if at all. I really wish they’d tell us how close the couples who were saved were so we had some idea how the fans are voting. Oh, I know why they will never do it – potential manipulation. They never told us before, for that matter. But the numbers geek in me still wants to know.
Meanwhile, this week, we will see the dances from last night again tonight for the dance off. And it appears I was right – an encore wasn’t even mentioned. So instead of the best, we’ll be seeing the worst dance again each week.
My jaw just hit the floor. In fact it is still there. They just announced the first four couples safe. The first three were the obvious leaders. Then they announced that Steve Wozniak was safe. I thought for sure he was in the bottom two whether he went or not. Score another one for geeks everywhere, I guess.
The Bottom Two:
Holly Madison & Dmitry Chaplin
Denise Richards & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Well, I got one out of two right. With Steve out of the way, I’m not too surprised Denise filled his spot. But this means we’ll have two Sambas. Let’s see how the dance off goes.
Holly Madison & Dmitry Chaplin – They definitely fixed the lift in the beginning. And they looked like they were having more fun, too. I thought I saw some marginal improvement. Len said it was much hotter, although there was one mistake. Bruno said the timing was off, but it was hot. Carrie Ann praised them for keeping her foot on the ground.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 6 Len – 6 Bruno – 6 Total – 18 One better than last night.
Denise Richards & Maksim Chmerkovskiy – It still seems to be lacking a Latin flavor to me. It did seem better than last night, but I think I am actually rooting for Holly at this point. And I never thought I’d hear myself say that. Bruno, on the other hand, said it was a big improvement from last night. Carrie Ann says she is good under pressure and she really worked on her presentation. Len said Denise proved she deserved to stay.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 6 Len – 7 Bruno – 7 Total – 20 That gives them four more than last night (a big improvement) and two more than Holly.
And after all this, the couple going home is…Denise and Maks. I’m a little surprised given how much they improved their score. Obviously, the viewer votes were a huge factor not only in keeping Steve from the bottom two, but also in saving Holly.
Next week, we’ve got the Lindy Hop and Argentine Tango, both of which I am anxious to see. Then, on Tuesday, we’ve got a double elimination. Lots to look forward to next week. In the mean time, feel free to stop by my blog and see what else is on my mind.
So I’m curious what the point of the dance off even is. Denise inproved her score by 4 points yet still went home so it seems to me that she was going anyway. What was she supposed to get to stay? A perfect 30? I’d much prefer the encore then the pointless dance-off. Just my opinion.
I hadn’t thought of it in exactly those terms, but you are 100% right. This obviously didn’t change the outcome of the show (Holly was ahead of Denise before the dance off with the judges). It’s only going to make a difference if the two stars were tied before.
And as I said above, I’d much rather watch an encore than dance off, too.
Wow! I was certainly wrong. I lke Steve Woz, and he can stand up to the harshness of the judges. I still feel that Gilles is the dancer to watch.
