Disney XD gets off to great start.

Disney XD, the Walt Disney Company’s new cable channel aimed at boys, got off to a good start on its Friday premier. “Aaron Stone” anchored the opening night performance. According to TV Week the numbers look good for Disney XD. But the jury is out to see if Disney can do for young boys what Hannah Montana has done for young girls.

If the same people are marketing Disney XD as they are Disney Channel, then I bet they can.

  2. A “great” START? Really? Sure Aaron Stone is a great show. But that’s where it ends sadly enough. Disney’s rebranded channel looks more like a discount outlet for old Disney Channel programs. This is for Boys 6-14? Really? Why so many OLD shows? Why so many marathons?
WHERE ARE THE POWER RANGERS? Why would Disney eliminate Power Rangers from its line-up and replace it with Even Stevens? I would have loved to have been at that meeting…
Poor choices and a madcap mish mosh of programs.
Why not a Power Hour of Aaron Stone & Power Rangers? Why not Super Hero blocks that draw in your male audience and keep them there?
    DisneyXD? Extra Disappointing.
    Sorry Disney!

  3. In DisneyXD’s defense, they did announce that they’d be slowly rolling out additional original content over time. Very few, if any, cable channels spring to life fully programmed with original material. Give them some time after this great start in the ratings.
