Farewell to Yzma

Eartha Kitt died Thursday at the age of 81. Kitt, known to many for her sultry songs and acting roles, made her mark with Disney fans as the evil usurper Yzma in the animated film The Emperor’s New Groove and the Disney Channel series The Emperor’s New School, for which she won Emmy Awards in 2007 and 2008.

I consider New Groove to be one of the most under-rated films in the modern Disney library. Eartha Kitt’s performance as Yzma helped make her one of my favorite villainesses in the Disney pantheon as well. Those Emmy’s for the TV show were well deserved as well.

  1. That is so sad! We love Yzma! I could always picture Eartha doing it, as I watched.

She was one of my favorite “voice” actresses, and I had no idea she had passed.

Thank you for this post! She will be missed greatly!
