I really hope that this is just a wild rumor. Tim Burton is a great director in his own quirky way, but I honestly think that he would ruin everything that POTC is. Personally, I’m not sure I even want to see another Pirates film. Now don’t get me wrong, if one is made, I’ll go see it. I’m too obsessed to not see it. It’s just that I love the first 3 so much, and I just don’t want to see it go downhill. I especially don’t want to see it turned into some kind of freaky Burtonesque film. Ah well, in the end, no one will ask for or care about my opinion. At least I have the original 3 movies to love and Will Turner to swoon over.
I love this idea. Burton’s a great director and Depp has done some of his best work with him. Burton can do family films – Chocolate Factory was brilliant.
the main “objection” I might have to Burton as director is a departure from the signature style and feel of Gore Verbinski. I guess I have gotten used to the aesthetic of the first three and would hate to see a departure from that.
Otherwise it’s a golden match up really.
Noooooooooooo! Don’t like the idea at all. I don’t mind Burton in his genre, but I wouldn’t want to see the flavor of Pirates change too much. It has been a good formula so far.
