Legend of the Seeker promo shots

Another show I’m looking forward to this fall is “Legend of the Seeker.” The book series upon which it’s based has a huge following for a good reason, it’s a powerful story. The show will be produced by Disney, but won’t be on ABC or ABC Family, instead it’s going directly to syndication. So beginning November 1, 2008, check your local listings for time and channel.

Disney has now released these promo photos (two more below the cut) and have some short video trailers at the official site. Here’s the official blurb:

“Legend of the Seeker” picks up during the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father told in “The Sword of Truth.” According to author Terry Goodkind, ( who is also the writer for several of the TV series scripts), a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher’s forest sanctuary seeking help…and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence. In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword-to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed…or that their time has run out. This is the beginning. One story. One Rule. Witness the birth of a legend.

Any other Sword of Truth fans out there looking forward to this?

  1. Wizards first rule was the first book I ever picked up… and i didnt stop until I read the whole series three times over…I am really excited about this and just hope that it will be just like whats inside my head.

  2. When I saw the first trailer I bought the book immediately. Am now half-way through it and can’t wait until Nov. 1 for the show to start. I have been a fan of fantasy for a long time and am thrilled that finally there will be a decent show on TV.

  3. WHAT DID YOU DO??? The worst thing I’ve seen in years!!! Did you read the books?? I was looking forward to this for months but you ruined the whole story. All I can say is Boooo!!!

  4. I cannot believe you would take an epic story, re-write it with the same characters and turn it into a cartoon. I waited for months, just to be dissapointed. Thanks!

  5. completely butchered the series…anyone who is seeing this series for the first time should go buy the books…this tv series is just horrible

  6. I could not agree more with the last 3 posts. Completely Butchered It!!! I was so disgusted I couldn’t even finish the 1st episode and will not even bother to look forwards to the upcomming ones.
When I 1st heard of the series comming out to TV, just as most of the SoT fans I’m sure, could not wait to see how it would play out, fantasy brought alive. After watching half of the 1st episode I was disgusted to a point that I had to turn it off.
I understand leaving out some of the elements from the books, but leaving crucial points or should I say completely changing them was just the begining to a Big Ruin!
1st of all – Richard is a woods guide Not a bridge repaiman, why they started off with showing him repairing the bridge and how exactly does it show Richard’s character as a woods guide,. still no clue. Then, Richard and Zedd have a special kind of friendship they were very close, Richard was practically raised by Zedd since his father was a trades man and was gone a lot of the time – changed to display as if they barely even knew or liked each other.
Kahlan had no idea who Zedd was, no one from the Midlands knew who he was or that he was a wizard. Richard figured it out and was the 1st main point that showed why Zedd picked him as a Seeker.
That was just the begining of a Bust for the series! (for me anyways). Way to go Disney!

I would not be surprised that they would not be able to even finish the 1st season. ‘Cause once others that would come accross those episodes and find out that it was based on a Very good book series would no doubt run out getting the 1st book.
And Let me tell you, That 1st book is a big juicy worm with a hook in it and you are the fish! Once you pick it up you will find that you would want to finish the whole series and that would be the end of the TV series.

  7. I learned about this show on Hulu.com. I didn’t know that this is a brand new show from Disney but the first time I saw the show I liked it immediately. I like the cinematography and the casts. In general the story is a recycle concept of so many other stories from the past but that didn’t matter because it was so entertaining.

I find that in most cases reviewers don’t like the way stories from books are transformed into TV series or movies. So if you like the book, just keep reading it. That’s the reason why kids are encourage to read books, not watch TV. Don’t compare books and TV, it’s like comparing apples and oranges. As for me I hope the show continues for a long time.

  8. I am reading first book now and even though there are many differences, the show is still WONDERFUL !!!!!! It is a great show. Give it a chance, it is one of the best shows out there now.

  9. I just found out that there is a show based on SOT. I’ve seen 5 episodes and sorry guys, the show stinks. I have no problem that they didn’t follow the books. It is far enough off the mark that it could be a completely different story with totaly new characters. The problem I have is that Disney didn’t feel the need to invest in decent cinematography. Apparently they were not willing to pay anyone who knew how to act either.

  10. i havnt had time to read the book but im a huge fan of the show its soooooooo intense! kahlan is gorgeous, and richard is the hottest guy ever!!!!!! ps i LOVE the slo-mo fight scenes! take that haters! im out!
