Animation turns 100 today

Back in 1908 Emile Cohl created Fantasmagorie. It debuted on August 17th, 100 years ago today.

It may look like animated chalk drawings, but it’s actually black lines drawn on white paper and then printing in negative to make it look like chalk drawings. The whole picture used 700 drawings.
