Celebrating Independence Day

Hope you have a safe and fun Independence Day.

Thanks to LaughingPlace.com for capturing this the Walt Disney World 1907 Circus Calliope making a rare appearance in the park.

I really had no idea they even had a Circus Calliope. I want to see more!

They always bring it out to the citrus bowl parade and such.

Could be wrong, but I seem to remember this from Disneyland’s 25th anniversary celebration. Pretty neat, huh?

Lots of Disney history in that calliope. According to an article in Persistence of Vision #10 it was used for the Mickey Mouse Club Circus Parade at Disneyland and in the movie Toby Tyler. It was painted blue and white for Disneyland’s 25th in 1980 and brought to Walt Disney World in 1981 for the WDW tencennial.
