60 years ago, Toys for Tots delivered their first toys to
needy children in the Los Angeles area. Since then, they have distributed over
370 million toys to over 173 million needy children all across the United
States. But did you know their logo was designed by Walt Disney? It was created
back in 1948 and is still in use today. Disney also designed the original
promotional poster as well.
The Walt Disney Co. continues to support the Marine Toys for
Tots Foundation. Now through December 17, you too can support Toys for Tots via
Disney’s Heart of Gold charitable campaign. Just text message “HEART” to “27138”
and Disney will donate $1 for every text message received (normal messaging
fees may apply, maximum of $50,000 donated, see website for additional
restrictions and official rules). In return, Cinderella will call you the next day between 9am and
noon PST. Additionally, you will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes
for a grand prize of assorted Disney Princess products plus a $10,000 donation
to your local Toys for Tots chapter.
This is a chance for all of us to make a little difference

It’s interesting. Maybe the studio supports Toy’s for Tots, but Disneyland doesn’t. For years people have been able to drop off unwrapped toys to the Marines at Disneyland and in the last few years it was at Downtown Disney. A whole group of us planned a Sunday meet for last Sunday at the Bakery in DTD to have rolls and coffee then drop off a bunch of donated toys. It was all planned and people were really exited about doing this again. Then the lady who organized this called Disneyland to verify where the Marines would be stationed and was told, “Disneyland no longer supports Toys for Tots and all drop off locations have been removed and the Marines will no longer be allowed to take Toy Drop Offs on Disneyland Property”.
It sounds to me that once again the stupid people who run Disneyland now are really the Grinches still trying to steal Christmas. Over at Knotts Berry Farm, if you show up with a toy worth at least $10, unwrapped you get in the Park free.
