Sorry about the Dog. It would be tough to lose our Pup.

You article brought back the thoughts I had last year after listening to some of the Disney Podcasts out there. If you remember, there seemed to be an death or severe accident every other month during a part of 2006. Some of the podcasters and bloggers could have been a little nicer when talking about these incidents. Even if the guest was kinda not too smart about riding a ride. No reason to yell it out so quickly. Each incident had a grieving family. Wait for the frivilous law suit, then come down on those people.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I too lost my first dog suddenly a few years ago when I was on vacation. He was with us when it happened but it was very difficult dealing with a strange vet in a distant city.

I know it does not make you feel any better but it wouldn't hurt so much if it didn't mean so much. The brightest flames burn out so quick.

Just an FYI, this is actual Cody's article.

I'm sorry for your loss Cody. Great point about how putting the family first is crucial to the healing process.

So sad - but what a great perspective you have. You did a great job of turning your loss into a lesson we can all understand - thank you.

John,

I just don't have words to describe how I felt when I read this. I was sure the discussion of death was about a person not a young and beloved pet.

When my wife and I moved to Oklahoma we left behind having my parents nearby. My mom LOVED watching the dogs and I swear she gave them more concern and care than she ever did my brother and I (I guess that's what grandmas do).

Now we have to use boarding services and I am a basket case every time I leave for vacation because I'm worried we'll get the call you did. We are about to head off for a 10 day trip to WDW and articles such as this bring back those fears. That is such a long time to be away from them.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel because I (or my family) have had dogs and/or cats for most of my life. Even when my sister's family dumped their cat on me against my will (long story), I came to get very attached to this creature who would wait for me to come home from work. (I know she was really waiting for food.)

When I married my wife a few years ago, she had a little Maltese dog that accepted me right away. She was our baby until we got pregnant. We were worried how she would take to our baby, but she is so tolerant of the babies cries and has become very protective of her.

I dread the day we lose our dog, but as C.S. Lewis points out - with love comes pain when you lose the one you love. The alternative is not to love at all, and I don't want a life like that.

Best wishes to you. I appreciate your message of compassion.

I think some of the frustration with the family members of those who have died at Disney also stems from the fact that sometimes they sue Disney for millions for something that may not be the park's fault.

My heart breaks for you. Best wishes to you and your family.

And, just think, right now there is a new friend waiting to be adopted.
