Kibbosh put on to two Asian Disney Projects

LaughingPlace.com has heard from a reliable source that two Disney projects set in Asia are now on back burners or ended all together. This includes the rumored Shanghai Concept Park and the Pirates themed land for Hong Kong Disneyland. At HKDL, the gov’t body in charge of the park didn’t want to pay for the expansion. Park managers were counting on the new land to help increase attendance. So where this leaves Hong Kong Disneyland is a good question.

Of course, a project never really dies at Walt Disney Imagineering, it just gets re-invented as some other theme park or land. (see Disney’s America becoming California Adventure.) Any nominations for where a Pirates themed land or mini-park would work?

  1. It could possibly work in the Anaheim or Disney properties as a smaller park, offering…but without the Pirates ride to anchor the land, I think it would feel incomplete.

While I am no huge fan of the area, Vegas seems like a natural fit….
