DVC at the Contemporary

It’s not a very big secret that after Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Disney Vacation Club (DVC) offerings sell out the next location to open will be a multi-story offering at the Contemporary. The proximity of that location to Magic Kingdom is going to make it a premium buy for anyone looking to enjoy a little of the home away from home DVC magic.

A few months ago The Ultimate Orlando Blog posted links to the permit papers so we know it exists. In fact, as you can see in the above picture, construction has begun in earnest now. The old North Wing has been totally demolished and preparation is under way for horizontal construction (which will involve some pretty deep pillars, due to the water table level in the area).

Disney is obviously looking to DVC to play a large role in the future of the resort. I know many people who vacation frequently at WDW and have run the numbers then bought in. Disney wins because they know they’ve got you for the foreseeable future. I expect as the number of frequent DVC guests rise, they’ll become almost like locals in their demand for quality entertainment at the parks. That too should be a good thing in the long run for the Walt Disney World Resort. Let’s just hope Disney World management is listening.

Btw, I’m also trying out a new photo format. Let me know what you think.

  1. I think that the Grand Floridian should be a DVC. It is one of the most convenient resorts on Disney Property. If the Yacht and Beach Club can be one of them than the Grand Floridian should be one too.
