The 25 Most Controversial Movies of All Time

  • by

Entertainment Weekly comes up with a list of the 25 most controversial films ever and #25 is a Disney Animated Film. Just off the top of your head, what would you think is the most controversial Disney Animated Feature: Fantasia, for the blackface segments; Song Of The South, for its depiction of post slavery America; or how about Who Framed Roger Rabbit, for it’s political view and Jessica Rabbit. Nope, none of those were picked. Instead they focused on one line in a song that raised the ire of The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. Yep it’s Aladdin.

Other ‘Disney’ films mentioned on the list were: Kids, one of the early controversial films from the Weinstien Brothers division; and two films Disney passed on, The Passion Of The Christ and Farenheit 911.

  1. I think that this is taken a little to far, I mean Aladin isn’t a movie that is derogatory in anyway shape or form. Also, Fantasia, was much more controversial…I’ve only seen it once, and thats when I was four, because it scared me.
I think there are other movies that are much more controversial- who ever made this list needs to re-evualuate it.

  2. I found it strange that Entertaiment Weekly listed Aladdin in that list. I own a copy of the 1992 article that praised Aladdin high into the air and never mentioned that the lyrics where somewhat controversial.

  3. Hmmm, truthfully, I though it would be HoND, not only for the song “hellfire” but for the numerous lust scnes with Frollo and Esmerelda o.O.
