Royal Plaza reopens after hurricane damage

RoyalplazaThe Royal Plaza Hotel in the Walt Disney World Resort has officially reopened. The independently operated hotel has been closed since August 2004, when it sustained damages from Hurricane Charley. If you don’t remember which one it is, it’s the big pink thing you saw from the I-4 right around the 535 exit.

all public areas (including restaurants, lounges and ballrooms) now feature wireless Internet access, new artwork, carpeting and tile, wall coverings and furniture. New landscaping and repainting the exterior of the hotel from pink to warm honeysuckle also was part of the makeover.

That’s good news because the picture on their website still shows the ugly pink version. Anyway, glad to see they’ve finally recovered from the damage done by Charley.
