Save the Hippos! The news that Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise is getting their guns back has been making the rounds lately. Now the LA Times and the Orlando Sentinel chime in with a little more detail on the story. Apparently the guns won’t be the old blank firing guns, but rather props that will cue a ‘gun-shot’ sound through the boats speakers. I’m curious to see how this works. Will the average guest be fooled?

I think the JAWS ride at Universal Studios still uses guns, albeit fake, with the gunshots coming from the speakers, and a splash of water in sync with the sounds adding to the effect.
