Despite its foe’s best efforts to derail the project, Florida voters appear likely to approve construction of the light rail project once again. The first leg will connect Tampa and Orlando with a stop at the Walt Disney World Resort and the Orlando International Airport. The second leg will connect central Florida with southern Florida. It is hoped this will alleviate some of the heavy traffic volume from the I-4 corridor. Let’s hope.

I just want to express how I feel about amendment 6 which repealed the Florida high speed rail initiative. I have talked to many people, forty-three in total, at my school (Florida International Univ.), (University of Florida), and at my job. All express to me that they voted wrong on this amendment they either feel mislead on the information or they did not understand the amendment. All of these people generally agree with the Florida high speed rail being a great way to connect Florida. The friends I have in Gainesville would love a high speed rail because they feel they can use it often to come home to Miami, and the people I have talked to here in Miami feel that the high speed rail would make them take more vacations and spend more money at other attractions inside of our state. Out of the forty-three people I talked to all said that they would ride the high speed rail at least once every month some said much more. I feel that many people have voted wrong on this amendment and many people including myself would like to see this amendment back on the ballot. Is there any way I can help to get this amendment back on the ballot.
