More from Cartoon Brew. Walt Disney Feature Animation (WDFA) has shelved its use of hand-drawn animation and laid off many of its artists and people (you know who you are) have been wondering about the future of animation. It was my prediction that myriad smaller studios would form and release new product breathing life into the animation industry. Well, this article at Cartoon Brew indicates that the renaissance has begun.
My hope is that out of these seedlings grow five or six strong oaks that can challenge the box office domination of Disney and Pixar (soon to be just Pixar, I’m afraid). My dream is that someone who is willing to talk up the mantle of Champion of America’s Spirit of Youth and Optimistic view of the Future (see previous) once held by Walt Disney.
